At training today, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti met with several members of Inter’s leadership before meeting with Mauro Icardi according to a report from Corriere della Sera.

The chat between Spalletti and Icardi was brief and a knee problem – that the club have since confirmed –  was discussed and it is looking like Icardi will not be named in the Nerazzurri squad for this weekend’s match against Sampdoria.

The report from Corriere della Sera detail that Icardi – who has already been stripped of the captaincy – will not face any further consequences by the club despite refusing the call-up for the game against Rapid Vienna.

Inter are hopeful of being able to recover the 25-year-old striker before the end of the season for the run in where they will be looking to secure themselves a place in the Champions League next season and hopefully still find themselves in the Europa League.
