Roberto Gagliardini could be handed a first league start in more than two months when Inter face Sampdoria on Sunday, Corriere dello Sport reported this morning.

Gagliardini started in the Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio on 31 January but has not featured from kick-off in Serie A since 7 December, when Inter lost 1-0 Juventus.

Luciano Spalletti could also name Dalbert in his starting XI for the third time in four league games, after the Brazilian showed signs of encouragement in the defeat to Bologna two weeks ago.

Keita Balde could return to the match-day squad after a month on the sidelines with a thigh injury but the Senegalese forward would only be fit for a place on the bench.

Lautaro Martinez will start up front again with Mauro Icardi expected to miss the match, while Radja Nainggolan should keep his place behind the Argentine.

Inter’s probable line-up for Sampdoria (4-2-3-1): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Asamoah; Gagliardini, Brozovic; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Lautaro.
