According to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Lautaro Martinez’s friendship with Icardi remains untouchable, but now it’s up to him to take responsibility for the Nerazzurri attack.

Lautaro is ready to play the lead role for Inter. He was the only one Icardi complimented after his goal and victory in the Europa League on Thursday evening against Vienna. ‘The Bull’ immediately thanked him and then got back to work, also because with Mauro still not in the squad tomorrow at San Siro against Sampdoria, it will be up to him to once again lead the Inter attack and it will be another important test for the 21 year old striker.

Two nights ago in Austria, Lautaro showed all the hallmarks of a quality player: beyond the penalty with which he scored his seventh goal of the year, it was the personality with which he took the ball to take the penalty, the tenacity in getting the team up, the strength in defending the ball and defying the opposing defence without fear and using his strength when needed.

Spalletti is relying on Lautaro and favours these characteristics strongly and hopes to see them once again, starting tomorrow against Sampdoria.
