Cagliari sporting director Marcello Carli has claimed that coveted midfielder Nicolo Barella, “did not think about leaving for a minute,” during the recent January transfer window despite interest.

The Italian international is understood to be on the transfer shortlist’s of several top clubs both inside and outside of Italy. Inter are one of the teams who have been most linked with the 22-year-old while Napoli and Chelsea have also shown an interest.

“His price is determined by the transfer market and he has been great, by showing on the pitch why these rumours circulated in January,” Carli insisted in an interview with Radio Sportiva.

“He is attached to this shirt and he did not think about leaving for a minute in January.

“For us he is a decisive player,” he continued.

“We will see what happens in the Summer.”

The 22-year-old central midfielder has been near ever present for the Rossoblu this season in Serie A appearing in 22 of their 24 games to date in which he has scored a single goal and created two assists.
