Former Inter attacker Luis Figo has spoken briefly on what he makes of the whole Mauro Icardi-centred chaos currently going on at Inter.

Icardi was stripped of the club captaincy last week in what club directors have called a move to benefit the team although that has not stopped the media from speculating that it is down to the prolonged and difficult contract negotiations that have brought a lot of unnecessary tension.

“At any given moment, not only at Inter but all over the world, it can be like that,” the Portuguese, who spent four trophy-filled years with the Nerazzurri, said in an interview with Omnisport.

“Players come and players go, but the club remains.”

Icardi’s future at San Siro would seemingly appear to be right up in the air and it remains to be seen if a resolution can be found for a situation that has been far more public than the club would have perhaps wanted it to be.
