According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Mauro Icardi will undergo testing to discover the extent of the knee problem he is dealing with.

The former Nerazzurri skipper has missed Inter’s past two matches as a result of his right knee becoming inflamed and he asked the club to sit out for this reason – something Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta said the club have just got to respect, prior to Inter’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

The 26-year-old has been undergoing physiotherapy on his knee since last Thursday and has also complained about a problem with his ankle.

It remains to be seen if Icardi will be fit for Thursday night’s Europa League round of 32 second leg with Rapid Vienna.

Icardi has been near ever present for Inter this season making 28 appearances across all competitions. He has scored 15 goals over the course of the season, nine of which have come in Serie A.
