Inter legend and current vice-president Javier Zanetti is to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of Italian football for his ongoing services to the Italian game, Italian football’s governing body the FIGC have announced.

The Argentine spent some 19 years on Inter’s books as a player and since his retirement in 2014 he has held his current position at the club.

Zanetti is one of 11 who will join the already 88-strong Hallf of Fame of Italian football at the ceremony, which is due to be held this coming May in Florence and all inductees will be asked to deliver a speech.

He will be joined by Francesco Totti (player), Massimiliano Allegri (Coach), Antonio Matarrese (director), Nicola Rizzoli (referee), Giancarlo Antognoni (player), Igor Trocchia (Astori Award) and Milena Bertolini (women’s football player) while Amedeo Amadei, Gipo Viani and legendary Italian football journalist Gianni Brera will all be posthumously inducted for their contributions.
