Diego Godin could see a reduced amount of playing time from here until the end of the season due to having a pre-contract agreement signed with Inter according to a report from respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

With the veteran Uruguayan defender headed for the exit door of the Wanda Metropolitano at the end of this season, Atleti manager Diego Simeone could prefer Stefan Savic at the heart of the defence alongside Jose Maria Gimenez instead, in a move to build a partnership between them for the future.

Godin has amassed 26 appearances for Los Rojiblancos – who he is captain of – this term across all competitions. The 33-year-old has scored two goals and assisted just as many and has helped the Spanish giants record a dozen clean sheets.

He has been on the books of the Spanish capital club since 2010 and helped them toward winning La Liga and two Europa League titles among other honours and also played a part in helping them reach two Champions League finals.
