In an interview with Sky Sport ahead of tomorrow night’s Europa League match with Rapid Vienna, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has insisted the game will be “extremely difficult.”

“Between UEFA limitations, injuries and suspensions, the number of players there to choose from is quite limited,” he started.

“In the first leg Rapid were more cautious and they did everything with more balance, sacrificing quality both on an individual and team level.

“Now they have nothing to lose, so they will play the game free from any reasoning and this becomes dangerous for us because winning the first leg is easier but the game will be extremely difficult.”

He then moved on to speak about the growth of the team in the past few games.

“The team has corrected the mistakes made in previous matches.

“It shows you that they have character. They have done good things.

“The players have grown and it is a growth related to the period they have passed and not from something else.

“We can play well against any opponent and we will have to make up for the absences of players.”

Lautaro Martinez was the next topic of conversation during the interview.

“It becomes difficult to make him think in terms of protecing a certain moment.

“He is one of those players who can make a contribution.

“I have known forward to let the ball go when it is heading out but Lautaro goes after every ball. He can play and he does so for the team.

“Playing every three days is not easy and it does not put him in a position to always give quality.”

He concluded by speaking on Mauro Icardi.

“There is no closure from the team for him. He is a strong player,” Spalletti assured.

“He will return when he takes the right steps.”
