Inter’s Italian winger Antonio Candreva held a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Europe League return leg clash against Rapid Vienna at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.
The former Lazio man underlined that the most important thing was for Inter to go through to the next round, irrespective of any personal situations anyone in the club was experiencing.
“Aside from personal situations, it is very important that the team qualifies and goes into the next round. We want to go as far as we can in this tournament because we care and because we are Inter.”
“We have talked a lot about it and I think that the directors, the president and especially coach have talked a lot about [the Mauro Icardi situation] too. We know that Mauro is unhappy as so are we, he cares about this team, this shirt and his fans. We are waiting for him with open arms when he is 100% fit.”
“I don’t want to seem repetitive or unpleasant but tomorrow we are playing a very important match and those who haven’t played that much ant to do well and demonstrate that they are ready. Mauro was always smiling since last week and since e all heard the news. He is currently injured and he cares about recovering.”
“Icardi and Martinez are different, Mauro is more in the penalty area, always looking to attack the ball. Lautaro can invent a goal with every ball that arrives. He looks for a chance in the entire penalty area.”
In conclusion Candreva was asked if he had any regrets since joining Inter to which he replied: “Having scored zero goals last year, I would go back to score some decisive goals.”
