Former Inter manager Jose Mourinho has revealed his belief that Inter must be targeting to win the Europa League due to the squad they have.

The Nerazzurri finished third in their Champions League group following an agonising draw in the final group stage match with PSV Eindhoven which meant Inter dropped down into the Europa League round of 32.

Luciano Spalletti’s side won the first leg of their match-up with Austrian side 1-0 last week and the reverse fixture at San Siro is to take place tomorrow.

“When a squad is built for the Champions League and ends up taking part in the Europa League, then it must aim to win the competition. As was the case with my Manchester United side,” he told Tele Radio Stereo.

“Therefore, Inter must do the same, just like Napoli, Chelsea and whoever goes through between Lazio and Sevilla.

“I believe the trophy must be won by one of these sides.”
