Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stopped by Sky Sport Italia moments before kick-off in the Europa League at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.
The former Juventus CEO was confirmed that the Nerazzurri are in advanced talks with Uruguayan international central defender, Diego Godin, who scored against the Bianconeri yesterday.
“I am happy, we are at a very advanced stage in negotiations and it was nice to see Godin score yesterday. As for the rest, let’s just say that I am very optimistic and believe that we’ll be able to make an official announcement pretty soon.”
Marotta was asked about the Icardi situation to which he underlined that he hoped that the striker will return soon to action.
“We don’t know when Icardi will return, you in the media seem to know more than us. We’re waiting for him and I have nothing more to add to what has already been said. We’re hopeful he can return as soon as possible, when he recovers from this pain in his knee.”
“The club is first and foremost. For example, for example FC Copenhagen that has written on its badge: ‘Nothing above the club.’ We must go forward with that same motto in our minds. My work is to get to know this club in depth, but I wasn’t worried when I took the job and I am not worried now. We must all give the right motivation to get back to the glories of the past.”
