Carlos Simeone, the father of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, has revealed that he cannot foresee his son leaving the Spanish giants anytime soon.

Simeone jr. played for Inter during his playing days and has not hidden the fact that he has a desire to manage Inter in the future however having recently extended his contract with Los Rojiblancos, that desire is quite evidently on hold.

He has been in charge at Atleti since December 2011 and his new contract runs through to the end of the 2021/22 season. He has led the Spanish capital club to a La Liga title and two Europa League’s among other honours during his tenure.

“I cannot see him going away from Atletico Madrid,” Simeone sr. said in an interview with Spanish news outlet Cadena Ser.

“Football always springs surprises though and you can never know with certainty what will happen in a year or two years time but today I cannot see him going away from Atletico in any way.”
