Inter will offer Mauro Icardi a new four-year deal next week in an attempt to rebuild bridges with the forward, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Icardi has not featured for Inter since being stripped of the captaincy last Wednesday and has fallen out with most of his teammates, making a departure in the summer more likely with each week that passes.

However Inter do not wish to lose the Argentine for a cut-price fee and will offer Icardi a new contract that runs until 2023, worth a base figure of €6.5 million per season in wages plus add-ons.

Unlike the add-ons in Icardi’s current contract, which sees his salary increase incrementally each season, the new bonuses would be exclusively related to Inter’s performance as a team and not Icardi’s individual numbers as a forward.

It remains unlikely wife and agent Wanda Nara will accept the club’s proposal, though, as she continues to ask for €9-10 million.

Icardi has a release clause worth €110 million but Inter could be forced to accept a lower fee for him should he remain out of action until the end of the season.
