Inter manager Luciano Spalletti is set to hold talks with Mauro Icardi this coming week to understand if and when the former captain will make a return to action according to a report from Corriere della Sera.
Icardi has sat out of Inter’s past three games and will miss tonight’s game with Fiorentina and looks unlikely to feature in Inter’s next game thereafter away to Cagliari too.
Depending on how the talks go, the report states that Icardi could return for the first leg of Inter’s Europa League round of 16 match-up against Eintracht Frankfurt on March 7.
With Lautaro Martinez on the verge of an automatic one match suspension in the league with him just one yellow card away, it is essential talks go well otherwise Inter could well be left without a recognised striker.
The 26-year-old has made 28 appearances over the course of the season across all competitions in which he has scored 15 goals and tallied three assists.
