Luis Muriel is very much aware just how much tonight’s match with Inter could mean for Fiorentina’s chances of qualifying for European football next season.

“If we want to qualify for Europe through the league, we have to beat the Nerazzurri tonight,” Muriel insisted to Gazzetta dello Sport in the build-up to the game.

The Colombian forward then revealed an anecdote about meeting one of his footballing idols, Inter legend Ronaldo.

“He was an extraterrestrial as a player.

“I met him once in Chile. We were in the same hotel as him and some of my national team teammates went to say hello I was behind them, but I could not open my mouth due to emotion. I was paralysed.

“Fortunately, Cuadrado took a picture of me with Il Fenomeno.”

He also spoke on coming up against former Sampdoria teammate Milan Skriniar.

“Skriniar is a tough guy, a real tough guy.

“He is already a great player and will surely become a top player.”
