There is a sizeable difference between the money that qualification to the Champions League brings compared to the Europa League, a difference that would have a big effect on Inter in the transfer market according to Corriere dello Sport.

The difference between the two competitions is some €60 million, an important sum of money that could sign a good player or go toward signing a top one.

Soon after becoming chief executive, Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta insisted that Inter need an injection of personality and players with a winning mentality.

One such player Inter will bring in is Diego Godin. The Atletico Madrid centre back perfectly fits what Marotta wants at Inter and Inter have seemingly already ironed out all the details for him to join on a free transfer in the Summer. Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic has also been mentioned in addition to Real Madrid pair Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

The Champions League would play a huge part in attracting these names and not being in the Champions League would make it very difficult to entice them to come.
