Lautaro Martinez has shared his thoughts on Inter’s performance against Cagliari, in which he scored, as Inter fell to a 2-1 defeat in Sardinia.
“We did not win today but I think we did very well in the second half,” he remarked in an interview with broadcaster Sky Sport.
“Cragno was very good. We created so many chances but we were not able to score any more goals and therefore we lost.
“We have lost points and we have to give more in future, not make mistakes and look ahead.
He continued: “The Europa League is a great goal for us, so we will firstly look to the Eintracht Frankfurt game and hopefully have a great match and then we’ll think about the SPAL match , another very complicated match.
“We have to show character and win. It is important that we recover.”
The Argentine striker then spoke on compatriot Mauro Icardi who missed his fifth consecutive match.
“For us Mauro is very important but we can not do anything and it is up to him to solve his problems. We can only wait and win in the meantime.”
He concluded the interview by speaking on where he prefers to be played.
“I would play defence in defence if I was asked but it is clear that I am best at the centre of the attack.”
