Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella has reflected on his side’s 2-1 victory over Inter last night in which he blew the chance to make it 3-1 as he skied a late penalty well over the bar.
“We put in a great performance, we knew we had to play with this spirit, we’d been improving and this was another step forward,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I want to forget the penalty, as we won and that’s the important thing.
“I was going to take it one way, I saw the goalkeeper move and tried to change direction, but I was off balance by then and it went over.”
He also spoke on Inter’s apparent interest in his services as part of the interview.
“For me it all acts as a stimulus. For now I am thinking of giving everything for Cagliari and nothing else. To beat a team like Inter you need to have a great game so it was nice for us to win.”
