Inter will sign Matteo Darmian to replace Cedric Soares in the summer after deciding they will not exercise their option to buy for the Portuguese right-back, Tuttosport reported today.

Cedric was brought in on loan to replace the injured Sime Vrsaljko in January and has so far made five appearances for the Nerazzurri, starting both of Inter’s Europa League matches against Rapid Vienna.

However, Darmian remains the club’s preferred profile at right-back and would have arrived last month had Manchester United not asked for €12 million.

Inter will make another move for the Italian at the end of the current season, when Darmian will have one year left on his contract, offering €6-7 million with the aim of sealing a deal for around €11 million.

Cedric would also be available for €11 million due to the loan agreement Inter reached with Southampton last month, but Inter would rather spend the same money on Darmian.
