Esteemed readers, for the first time in several months I have more questions to ask than answers to give, more doubts and concerns than assurances and guarantees about our Inter.

So I’m going to share some of them here, in the hope that some of them can get answered as time passes by, and maybe revisit this article in months’ time with the answers to most of them.

1. In the absence of Icardi and Keita, why does Spalletti decide to put in Ranocchia, a central defender by profession, instead of a 19-year old promising striker Facundo Colidio who was bought for no less than €7 million?

2. How is it possible that Inter invested €100million on four midfielders (Joao Mario, Matias Vecino, Roberto Gagliardini, Borja Valero) and none of them is decent to play alongside Marcelo Brozovic?

3. Why was Inter and Roma punished for three years by Uefa for not respecting financial rules, while Milan was given a slap on the hand and left free to buy and invest huge sums in January?

4. Why have the Nerazzurri been unable to recover a game after conceding a goal for a whole season?

5. Despite being a great goalkeeper, for what reasons Samir Handanovic occasionally tries to save a ball from going in with his eyes instead of his hands?

6. What the hell happened to Candreva’s performances in a couple of months?

7. Almost three weeks later, why Icardi didn’t yet recognise he reacted the wrong way in thinking that he and his wife are greater than the club itself?

8. On a similar note, what will take Mauro Icardi to understand that this whole saga is harming his reputation more than it’s harming Inter? Which club would want a player who is faking an injury in order to bully his way against his employers?

9. How can Inter suffer extremely damning refereeing mistakes in two consecutive games and the Italian media react like nothing extraordinary happened?

10. Why does Borja Valero try to dribble an entire squad in the box instead of shooting, and when he rarely does, he still shoots wide?

11. How do we manage to buy around 20 full-backs in five years and still have the modest D’Ambrosio as our starter on a regular basis?

12. Why, for once, can’t we have a good season without suffering mental black-outs that cost us vital points?
