Replacing Icardi As Inter’s Striker Hasn’t Proved Burdensome For Lautaro Martinez

Lautaro Martinez has been harnessing the full weight of the Inter attack upon his shoulders in recent weeks and will again be tasked with doing so on Thursday when Inter travel to Germany to take on Eintracht Frankfurt, Corriere dello Sport detail.

The 21-year-old will no doubt be hopeful of finding the net once more in the Europa League as he did once previously in the tie with Rapid Vienna in the last round.

Against Cagliari on Friday night, he scored his fifth goal in Serie A and eighth of the season and could have had another had the post not denied him.

He took a huge 10 shots at goal, 8 from inside the box and 2 from outside. He had 35 touches of the ball and while he still needs to grow in terms of general participation, he has proved in recent weeks that replacing former Inter captain Mauro Icardi is not an unbearable burden for him.
