SPAL president Walter Mattioli has spoken on his side’s upcoming difficult run of fixtures that sees them come up against two Champions League chasing sides and a fellow side hoping to also save themselves from the drop.

“We have two very difficult matches against Inter and Roma coming up and then after the break we will go to Frosinone,” he said in an interview with La Nuova Ferrara.

“Everyone is fighting to save themselves and I really liked the attitude shown by Cagliari in the match against Inter on Friday night .

He concluded: “We must continue to work and fight to the end.”

Heading in to this weekend, SPAL are five points removed from the relegation places and currently sit in 16th place with 12 games left to play in Serie A this season. An unfancied victory over Inter at the weekend could boost them as high as 15th dependent on how Udinese get on.
