According to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, Atalanta’s Colombian striker Duvan Zapata is in pole position in the race to replace Mauro Icardi at Inter.

“Piero Ausilio’s blitz in Bergamo is a clue and the excellent relationship between Steven Zhang and Percassi can provide reliable proof of Inter’s intentions.”

The Colombian, thanks to the teachings of Gian Piero Gasperini, has reached full maturity, and has a physicality similar to Romelu Lukaku and can coexist with Lautaro Martinez, who is now considered fundamental for Suning. Above all, scoring 21 goals, he has proved to be a clinical goal scorer.

Zapata, unlike Icardi, is the classic striker who knows how to play well with a team and could bring success for any coach who will sit on the Inter bench. In addition, he has a valuation that allows Inter to still gain a profit from the sale of Icardi which, given the recent circumstances, will have to be sold at a much lower figure than the €110 Million release clause.

Atalanta in fact this summer signed the Colombian from Sampdoria with the two-year loan formula at €12 Million with another €12 Million for the outright redemption. Atalanta President Percassi turned down a €40 Million offer from West Ham in January but the evaluation of the player should not deviate much from those figures.

All this without forgetting that Ausilio with Atalanta, can also negotiate on some counterpart that can make the deal even more economically sustainable.

Furthermore, according to Tuttosport, the attempts to sign a Striker such as Zapata, Dzeko or Lukaku would not exclude the arrival in Milan of Paulo Dybala, who could perhaps arrive in an exchange with Icardi.
