According Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Mauro Icardi met with Luciano Spalletti today at Appiano Gentile, to communicate in a few words that his physical condition has not changed and that the pain in his right knee still persists and this therefore prevents him from training.
The doctors in charge of the Nerazzurri, after listening to their former captain, have taken note of the situation and are now waiting to understand how long it will take to see him re-join the group.
Given that the absence against Eintracht Frankfurt and SPAL is certain, there is now the risk of Icardi missing the Derby della Madonnina against Milan, which is due to take place on 17th March.
Icardi, confirming the frosty relationship with the Nerazzurri staff, has not talked to his teammates, nor has he apologized or taken any steps to reconcile with them.
In this impasse, while the renewal talks remain on ice indefinitely, it could be President Steven Zhang who can resolve this issue even if, for the moment at least, there are no glimpses of salvation.
