Inter Manager Spalletti: “Very Good Performance, We Are Improving”

Luciano Spalletti is happy with his team’s performance in their 0-0 first leg Europa League round of 16 encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt.

“It was a very good performance from us for sure. As for the result, we have to see if we can qualify. If we do not qualify, an excellent performance is not enough.

“Today we threw away an opportunity but it must be said that we were playing at a difficult ground against a difficult team who are used to playing in Europe and in front of their fans.

“We were in control of the match for large spells and this is a sign that we are improving.

He then went on to praise the defenders for their performances and revealed that one defender was playing with an injury.

“Skriniar, de Vrij, Asamoah and D’Ambrosio were good. The latter played with a little problem but he was still good.”

Asked about Lautaro Martinez and Kwadwo Asamoah being suspended for the return leg he concluded: “We had to deal with absences tonight but as we always say, we have to play for Inter. The performance must be made by those on the pitch.”
