Former Inter director Massimiliano Mirabelli has accused Mauro Icardi of placing too much trust in wife and agent Wanda Nara.
Icardi has not featured for Inter since being stripped of the club captaincy on 13 February after ill-advised comments from Wanda on television, criticising his team-mates for not giving him enough service up front.
Mirabelli was at the club when former coach Roberto Mancini decided to make Icardi captain and spoke to Radio Deejay about the matter on Saturday.
“I thought it was an intelligent thing to do at the time,” he said.
“Mauro was and still is an incredible talent. In order to be a world class player though you need to make the right decisions off the pitch as well.
“The only mistake he has made is to place too much trust in his wife. She has a lot of different roles and it creates a lot of confusion.”
Icardi will once again be out of action for Inter on Sunday as Luciano Spalletti’s side take on relegation-threatened SPAL at San Siro.
