On the sidelines of the presentation of the ‘Junior TIM Cup – Il Calcio negli Oratori’ last night, Inter winger Matteo Politano spoke with Sport Mediaset and firstly spoke on the reminder of the season for Inter.
“There are so many matches still to be played but we have to prepare for them one at a time,” he began.
“First there is the match on Thursday and then the derby. It would be fundamental for the city to bring home a derby win, it would be great.”
He then shared his thoughts on VAR.
“Now when you score goals you never know if you can celebrate or not, because they check it over many times but it’s working and we’re happy with it.
Politano progressed to speak about Mauro Icardi and Lautaro Martinez.
“It is normal to miss a player like him as Mauro had been essential for us for six months. We hope he his return will come soon but he has a knee problem and he will decide when to return.
“I think Mauro will be there to support as at the derby and for us it is an honour to have him at the stadium even if we would prefer to have him on the pitch with us.
“Lautaro is similar to Icardi. They are both strong in the box which makes things easier for us. Tactically it is the same whoever plays although on Sunday we changed our system.
He concluded the interview by speaking on the race for Champions League qualification.
“There are so many teams involved. There is us, Milan, the two Rome clubs and Atalanta. We have to think match by match, we have the qualities to stay on top of the others.”
