Joao Mario is back in Portugual with the rest of his family to mourn the death of his father on Monday but will be back for Sunday’s Milan derby according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

With the midfielder ineligible to play in the Europa League due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, Inter allowed the 26-year-old to return to his homeland to be with his family at this sad time for a few days.

While unlikely to be the most important thing on the former Sporting player’s mind, his availability for the derby is very much important for Inter who are in a crisis of sorts.

Several first team players including Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan are out injured while there are also some players suspended for Sunday’s spectacle.

This season Joao Mario has made 17 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri. In little over 1100 minutes on the field, the EURO 2016 winner has managed to contribute a single goal and trio of assists.
