Wanda Icardi, the wife/agent of Inter striker Mauro Icardi, has this evening been awarded with the ‘Socrates Prize’ – a prize concerning freedom of speech.
“Thank you for this award. I am a mother of five children, two of them females, and I hope they meet a man like my husband who defends me and lets me talk,” she began her acceptance speech.
“Sometimes I say things we disagree with, we argue at home, but I think a woman must always be listened to with the utmost respect, I thank you all because, as an Argentine in Italy, you opened the doors in this wonderful country to me.
“I am proud to receive this award. I will continue with my ideas and saying what I think. I know that the world of football is difficult for a woman. I have been working since I was little, in this world women must be independent: to my little ones I wish for a quieter world.”
