Inter defender Cedric has apologised to the Nerazzuri faithful after the 1-0 loss to Eintract Frankfurt knocked the club out of the Europa League on Thursday night.

“We are sorry, especially to our fans,” the Portuguese, who played 62 minutes of the match at San Siro before being substituted, explained in an interview with Inter’s in-house channel Inter TV post-match.

“We tried, it was not impossible to try to overturn the result after having conceded goals.

“We have the qualities to do that but something did not work today, we weren’t at our best today.”

He concluded the interview by looking ahead to Sunday night’s Milan derby.

“Football can be like this sometimes and things change quickly, we already have another fundamental game against Milan on Sunday.

“We have some players out injured but in a season it is normal for this to happen. Those who go on the field must always give everything.”
