Inter were accused on Friday of being their own worst enemy again as Eintracht Frankfurt knocked them out of the Europa League.

Luciano Spalletti’s side lost 1-0 at San Siro after a mistake from Stefan De Vrij set Luka Jovic through on goal to open the scoring inside five minutes.

De Vrij’s mistake was reminiscent of Kwadwo Asamoah’s blunder in the decisive Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven and Tuttosport were quick to point out the similarities.

“Just as they had done in the Champions League, Inter went out of the Europa League after concocting the perfect suicide,” they wrote.

“They had some excuses last night but San Siro was unforgiving as they booed them off the pitch, and they were justified in doing so after a poor approach to the match.”

Inter will face Milan in a crucial Derby della Madonnina on Sunday as they look to secure Champions League qualification for a second season running.
