Inter are growing further and further apart from Mauro Icardi with each day that passes, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Icardi has not featured for the Nerazzurri since being stripped of the captaincy on 13 February and did not attend Thursday’s Europa League defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The forward continues to train apart from the first team as he manages a supposed knee injury and is all but certain to leave in the summer.

“Icardi’s absence at San Siro last night is symptomatic of the increasing distance between himself and Inter,” Corriere dello Sport wrote.

“Does anyone really think the upcoming international break can change anything?

“If Beppe Marotta’s diplomatic work hasn’t produced much so far it certainly won’t be his teammates flying away on international duty to bring about progress.”

Inter face Milan in a crucial derby on Sunday night but Icardi is not expected to attend that match either.
