Matteo Politano has shared his delight at Inter’s 3-2 win over Milan in last night’s Derby Della Madonnina ahead of joining up with the Italian national team.

“I am happy for last night’s victory. Preparing for matches like the derby is always easier,” he remarked in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“After yesterday’s victory we all said to each other in the dressing room that we must always be like this and we must always show this team spirit and hunger on the field.”

Politano then spoke on Mauro Icardi.

“It is normal for us to miss him. He is a player who has been important to us but now we have Lautaro in front of us, so it is important to give him a chance too.

He then discussed Inter manager Luciano Spalletti who has come in for some criticism as of late and the atmosphere in the dressing room.

“I do not think the manager has ever been questioned by anyone. The atmosphere in the dressing room was on show yesterday. We are a strong, compact team and a united group.”

He concluded the interview by sharing his delight at receiving a call-up.

“I am happy because it is always important to get a national team call-up. It is always my goal and I try to do my best for Inter. I am available to the manager and I will be ready.”
