Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta remains optimistic that a solution can be found to the ongoing saga between the club and Mauro Icardi as he explained pre-match last night.

“I am optimistic that this issue will be resolved because intelligent people need to adapt good sense, there is always hope and our hope is to recover a player that has given a lot to Inter and that is part of a important staff that deserves his provision. However, the decisions have been made, under which we move forward.”

Icardi was last month stripped of the Inter captaincy and has not played for the club since February 9 with him officially out with a knee injury, although there are real doubts from many about the authenticity of the ‘injury.’

Turin based newspaper Tuttosport believe that the two week international break, where there will not be as many people around at training, could prove useful and may help the talks between the parties come along.
