FC Porto’s Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera has long been linked with Inter in recent months bit it would now seem that he won’t be joining the Beneamata after all.

According to the sports paper O Jogo, who claim to have a source close to Inter, believe that Inter have given up the race the sign Herrera after failing to convince him to move to the Milan based club. The reason behind this is the players willingness to move to Spain and Atletico Madrid in particular.

Herrera who signed for the Portuguese side back in 2013, has impressed during his time in Europe becoming a fixture in the Porto side and going on to become the club captain.

Herrera’s decision has not been made official just yet but it is thought that an official announcement will be made after the last game of Porto’s season. Those behind the scenes at Inter have already resigned themselves to the Mexican players’ future being in Madrid rather than Milan.
