Former Inter and Milan striker Christian Vieri has once again weighed in on the Mauro Icardi versus Inter soap opera as he appeared on Mediaset Show Tiki Taka but first he spoke on San Siro.

“San Siro is always beautiful. For a football player, playing it is the most beautiful thing in the world. You cannot fail to score goals there if you are a striker,” he began.

The derby was brandished by many as the Lautaro Martinez vs Krzysztof Piatek derby in the lead up to it and it was Lautaro who stole the limelight from Piatek.

“Lautaro is strong and he is not afraid. Now that Icardi is not playing, he is fully exploiting the opportunity he is getting.

“Piatek did not get enough service. The ball ended up with others like Calhanoglu, Suso, Paqueta more than with him.

Vieri then went on to dismiss some people’s claims that this Inter side is capable of finishing in second place behind Juventus.

“I do not understand people who say that the team should be second. How could they be Juventus’ first pursuer? Napoli are superior to Inter.”

He concluded by calling on Mauro Icardi to return.

“He must make himself available again, he must play. He cannot stay out for two months, due to a real or presumed knee problem. You were the captain, now you are no longer captain. It shouldn’t matter whether you have the armband or not.”
