Upon linking up with his Argentine national team teammates, Inter striker Lautaro Martinez spoke with TyC Sports on a range of Inter related topics and firstly spoke on compatriot Mauro Icardi and his situation.
“The situation is not good neither for him nor for us. We cannot do much else and he must make a decision with the people who work with him and are around him,” he said.
“It is down to his representatives and the club to solve the problem.
He then shared his joy at scoring in the Milan derby win on Sunday.
“I am very happy that I was able to play my first Milan derby, score in it and win it. It really is fantastic. I couldn’t even sleep at night after it.”
The 22-year-old has been able to benefit from increased playing time in Mauro Icardi’s absence and he then spoke on his recent progress.
“I always try to improve daily. I certainly feel like I am a more competitive player who has learned a different kind of football.
“The Italian league is very competitive and tactics are important for each team that you meet. Training is different so I say this is how I have been able to grow as a player.”
