Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni has refused to rule out the possibility that Inter striker Mauro Icardi could be part of La Albiceleste’s squad for this Summer’s Copa America.

“I spoke with Mauro before we released the squad list and I explained why he was not called up. What is happening to him it directly concerns the national team,” Scaloni said during his press conference ahead of Argentine’s match with Venezuela tomorrow.

From here to the Copa America we will evaluate what will happen and we will see if he will be called up or not. Logically, it is evident that what is happening to him at this moment is not convenient for us.”

He then revealed his team plans and confirmed that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez would be starting.

“The line-up will consist of Armani, Tagliafico, Martínez, Foyth, Mercado, Montiel, Lo Celso, Paredes, G. Martínez, Messi and Lautaro Martínez.”
