Inter are considering a surprise move for Juventus’ €50 million-rated winger Douglas Costa in the summer, Tuttosport reported today.

The Brazilian joined the Bianconeri from Bayern Munich in 2017 and was an integral part of their league and cup double last season, but has not featured since 2 February as he recovers from a hamstring problem.

Juventus are open to the idea of selling Costa for a fee in the region of €50 million so they can pursue either Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo or Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, identified as key transfer targets by sporting director Fabio Paratici.

And Paratici’s former colleague Beppe Marotta is considering making an offer for the 28-year-old, who believes Costa could be an ideal replacement for Ivan Perisic on the left wing.

Matteo Politano is likely to be signed on a permanent basis from Sassuolo this summer but Perisic will almost certainly leave, having attempted to force through a move to Arsenal in the summer.

Tuttosport wrote: “Inter are starting to show an interest in Costa, a player who has precious few equals when he’s in form.

“That ability to beat his man and sometimes give the impression he’s running faster than the ball, which he rarely loses control of, is whetting Suning’s appetite.”
