Inter have made an initial enquiry about the availability of Mateo Kovacic according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The Croatian left Inter for Real Madrid a few years ago but has failed to cement his place as a regular starter in the Los Blancos team.

He was loaned to Chelsea this season with a redemption option attached however due to Chelsea’s transfer embargo, his stay will not be made permanent and he will return to the Spanish capital in the Summer.

In the coming weeks, Inter and the relevant parties will explore the feasibility of any potential deal, which is expected to largely depend on Inter’s qualification to the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri wish to strengthen their midfield during the Summer transfer window and are looking for a midfield partner for Marcelo Brozovic.

The Rome based newspaper report that it will take at least €30 million to prize him away from the Bernabeu and this could have an affect on how things go, especially given Kovacic isn’t the only player that Inter are tracking.
