Stefan de Vrij is a fitness doubt for Inter ahead of this weekend’s match-up with Lazio according to a report from Tuttosport.

The Dutch central defender picked up an injury prior to the Netherlands first match over the international break and he was forced to sit out of last night’s 3-2 loss at the hands of Germany as a result.

He will soon return to Milan where Inter’s medical staff will examine his condition.

Inter club doctor Professor Piero Volpi has downplayed the situation in recent days but the Turin based newspaper report that even despite this, the 27-year-old’s presence against his former employers is still in doubt.

This season de Vrij has formed a formidable partnership with Milan Skriniar at the heart of the Nerazzurri defence. He has made no less than 31 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored two goals, tallied one assist and helped the team to record 13 clean sheets.
