If Inter are to finish in the top four and thus qualify for the Champions League next season, they will renew the contract of long-serving defender Andrea Ranocchia according to a report from Tuttosport.

Inter sporting director has promised Ranocchia this will be the case as he wants an experienced fourth defender for the competition however if Inter fail to qualify for European football’s top continental competition, Ranocchia will leave at the end of the season once his deal expires.

The Nerazzurri will then direct their focus toward growing one of the many young defenders they have on their books.

Alessandro Bastoni, Zinho Vanheusden and Andrew Gravillon are all possible players who could benefit if this is to be the case.

Bastoni is currently on loan at Parma where he has made 16 appearances, 13 as a starter. Vanheusden is on loan at Standard Liege and has become a first team regular while Gravillon is on loan at Serie B club Pescara who he has made 29 appearances for.
