Roma are looking set to beat Inter and Milan to the signature of Brazilian youngster Matheus Guedes according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Giallorossi’s former sporting director Monchi had all but completed the deal to sign the 19-year-old defender prior to leaving the club to return to Sevilla.

It is now up to his replacement at the capital club in Ricky Massara to decide whether or not to finalise the deal which in all likelihood he will.

While he is yet to make a first team appearance for the Brazilian giants, he has been an unused substitute on several occasions in the past few months.

He is very highly rated by Santos as evidenced by the fact he has a €50 million release clause in his contract which is due to expire next week thus meaning he will be free to sign for the club of his choosing, which looks like it will be Roma.
