Former Inter striker Mario Balotelli could make a possible return to the Nerazzurri for UEFA squad list registration purposes, Corriere dello Sport report.

While Inter will be freed from the settlement agreement that has limited the number of players they can use in UEFA continental competition, they will still have to abide by the homegrown rules that UEFA set out.

Clubs need to have four players who have graduated from an academy within the country they are from and also need four players from their own youth academy.

Inter will have no problems in meeting the first requirement but it is a little more difficult when it comes to meeting the second one.

The Nerazzurri could opt to keep the likes of Federico DiMarco, Andrea Pinamonti and Andrew Gravillon but if they go down this route they risk stunting the growth of their promising youngsters who are unlikely to get much in the way of playing time.

Alternatively they could bring back players that have since moved on from the club. Balotelli, who is now at Marseille, is a possibility while Alfred Duncan, Marco Benassi and Cristiano Biraghi are other options. Bringing all four back would enable Inter to meet the second requirement and they would be getting four quality players too.
