Inter CEO Antonello: “We Want To Fill The Gap With Juventus As Soon As Possible”

Inter chief executive Alessandro Antonello has discussed the clear gulf in quality between the club and Juventus in an interview with Sky Sport.

“Today with Juve there is a gap and it can be evidenced from the difference in points in the league table. Our goal is to cover our strategic project in the coming years and to fill this gap as soon as possible, both on and off the field.

“From an infrastructural point of view, with them owning their own stadium Juventus have been able to invest a lot more on the team.”

He then shared how Inter intend to close the gap with their arch-rivals.

“Therefore it is up to us to speed up this processes in such a way as to shorten this gap as soon as possible. At the end of June we will move to the new location, in via della Liberazione, in a new building in the modern centre of Milan precisely to give this signal of impetus towards the future of the club.

“The second infrastructure investment is in Appiano, where, as soon as the season ends, we will begin work to expand the areas reserved for players. There will be new rooms and it will be modernised because we believe that an infrastructure like this can help in improving the performance of the players.

“We will also see if and how to proceed with a future project relating to the training centre for the youth sector. We want to continue investing in the strategic sector where Inter has always guaranteed excellent results for Italian football. Finally, for the first team, as a minimum we must be in the Champions League permanently.”

He concluded: “Then, once we return to compete constantly in this competition, we will have to grow year after year to achieve even better success.”
