Milanese clubs Inter and Milan have made a joint decision to build a new stadium, thus meaning that their current stadium, San Siro, will be demolished according to a report from Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

While Milan have seemed intent on building a new state-of-the-art stadium for quite some time, Inter have deliberated in making their decision but have now decided that building a new ground on the current parking lot at San Siro is the best way forward.

The clubs now need to present their project for the stadium to the Milan city council and could do so as early as next week.

The new stadium, which will take between three to five years to build, will see capacity reduced from just over 80,000 to 60,000 but the fact that the clubs will own their own stadium is fundamental for a number of reasons, especially from a financial point of view.
