Duvan Zapata is Inter’s first alternative in the event that they are unable to sign Edin Dzeko according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Colombian could arrive and back-up Lautaro Martinez while also adding some quality to the team but Inter will need to try hard to convince Atalanta to part ways with him if it comes to chasing him.
During the January transfer window the Bergamo based club knocked back a €30 million offer from Premier League side West Ham United and also rejected bids from a few Chinese clubs. The Milan based newspaper understand that it could take as much as €45 million for any interested party to prize him away from La Dea this Summer.
The report then goes on to look at why Zapata is the alternative to Dzeko: Roma striker Dzeko has a wealth of international experience, something Zapata lacks. Dzeko would be capable of mentoring Lautaro and would probably accept lesser game time. One thing that Zapata does have in his favour though is he earns considerably less than Dzeko does.
