Corriere dello Sport have sang the praises of Inter quartet Matteo Politano, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Roberto Gagliardini and Andrea Ranocchia for the contributions they have made over the course of the season, despite not always being the first option.
Politano, who joined Inter from Sassuolo at the start of the season, has not suffered as a result of stepping up to a big club in Inter. Barring a small drop in form in January, he never gives up and in the last derby he was decisive.
D’Ambrosio was also decisive in the derby as he made a goal line clearance at the end of the game by blocking Patrick Cutrone from making the game 3-3.
Gagliardini was also effective in the derby and his insertion next to Marcelo Brozovic enabled Matias Vecino to play in a more advanced role in behind Lautaro Martinez where he was able to make a real difference.
As for Ranocchia, he came on in the final minutes to help Inter see out the game. He made no appearances in the first half of the season but he has now made seven appearances across all competitions since the turn of the year. Ranocchia’s seriousness and attachment to the club has enabled him to always deliver when called upon and a contract renewal should come shortly.
