Antonio Conte is Inter’s preferred candidate over Jose Mourinho to succeed current manager Luciano Spalletti according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.
Conte, despite being sacked last Summer, is still under contract with Chelsea through to this Summer and the parties are yet to reach an agreement with regard to his severance pay.
Mourinho, who has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United at the end of last year, is meanwhile not being as strongly thought about by the Inter management team.
Inter’s management have their eyes set on Conte, who could command an annual salary of €8 million to manage the Nerazzurri and once he is freed from his contract with Chelsea, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio will think about it more.
The report from the Rome based newspaper also reveals that Mourinho could act as Francesco Toldo’s assistant manager for Inter Forever’s match against Spurs Legends.
